A little about Ms. Peers....It is so hard to get to know you all when we can't meet in person. I am so sad we cannot be in the classroom. So here is a little bit about myself, so you can get to know me a better! I am originally from Ontario, but have been in the Yukon for over 6 years. It is such a beautiful place and I was drawn to the outdoor lifestyle the Yukon has to offer. I love to travel and have been to more countries than I can count on both hands and both feet! I lived and taught in England for a year, and also spent 2 years teaching in Tanzania, Africa. I have 3 children: 12 years old, 3 years old, and an almost 1 year old. I have 2 dogs and 1 horse. My family and I love to skidoo in the winter, go to our cabin in the summer, and get out on the land hunting and fishing!

HI, I’m Colin O’Neil. I am an Educational Assistant (EA) at Elijah Smith Elementary School. 2019-2020 is my first year as an EA and I love working at Elijah Smith. I spent last school year supply teaching at almost every school around Whitehorse ... and ESES is the best! Before I moved to the Yukon two years ago I worked as a camp counsellor at a summer camp in B.C.; worked at an after school program to teach kids about farming and food in Ontario; and did all kinds of other jobs all kinds of different places (ask me about them sometime). When I’m not at work I like to be outside, either in the mountains, canoeing, or skiing and snowboarding. Finally, I feel so lucky to have been able to work with the fabulous group of kids that is the Newnham-Frey-Peers class! You guys are so smart, so mature, and so fun!

Hey everyone I know this can be a tough time. Some of you may really be missing school and friends. Some of you may be going a little crazy cooped up in the same house all day. Our routines have been disrupted and our lives completely changed. It's okay to feel frustrated and angry. Try your best to be positive and find the good in all situations. For instance, our environment has seen the reduction of air pollution from factories and less gas emissions from less vehicles driving around world wide.
